Institut of Lighting Design (ILD)

Institutte of Lighting Design is a new project of ČOSDAT o. s., czech centre of international organization OISTAT (www.divadlo.cz/cosdat, www.oistat.org).
The main objective of the project is to create and support creative work in the field of ligthing design as there has been lack of this platform in Czech Republic so far. Lighting design is worldwide considered as an independent branch of art nowadays.
In Czech Republic, there are really just few high-quality lighting designers who operate available technologies and can work in the artistic way at the same time. There is no complex educational and information base for the people that are interested in this field.
ILD wants to provide all the professionals (and also non-professionals) from the art and technical professions, theatres, art companies and individuals, with complex services in the field of lighting design (in the connection with sound and light components of the drama art).

Main activities of ILD:

Communication
In the field of trends, perspectives, cooperation and provision of services of light and sound components of the live art (contact / information system, participation of the Czech designers at the international projects, publication of the study materials, lectures of the foreign celebrities)

Education - School of Lighting Design
Year (2 semester) study of the lighting design and of the user´s technology basics under the direction of the Czech and foreign lectors. The objective is to support the education of the high-quality lighting designers who work both with light techniques and the light itself as a mean of expression. The study programme is divided according to specialization: There will be two groups (artistic and technical professions) with the same topical focus but with different demand on specific information.
